Hey everyone!

Welcome to Imperfect Matter,ย a hub for all things health and fitness related. My mission is to enjoy a very happy and healthy life doing the things I love, whilst trying to help others make positive changes to their lives by reviewing the best products, working with the best brands & having a go at the best fitness classes out there, as well as trying my hand at some healthy recipes. Along with that, I’ll post about my personal fitness journey, teaching yoga and trying new things – the highs, the lows and everything in between.

As an ex-gymnast and dancer and now yoga teacher I’ve always had a passion for the healthy lifestyle, but it was only after knee operations and numerous other excuses that I finallyย decided to live a happier and healthier lifestyle and hope that I could inspire others to do the same whilst on my journey.

    Hi cat,

    This is the first time I have seen/read your blogg its really inspiring. I have a few questions how do you keep yourself motivated? What inspires you? I am trying to start on building my body and your abs look amazing just wondering if your living in the UK what motivates you I see no motivation no inspiration anywhere in the UK to keep me going..       Hey! Thank you for your kind words about the blog – so happy to be inspiring people. I’m inspired by my fitness-loving friends on Instagram and even people I don’t know on there. I love seeing amazing photos of people working out, trying new things – it motivates me to push myself to do the same. Another thing that motivates me is having awesome new activewear to prance around in! ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck on your fitness journey. I hope to continue to inspire you.

    Hi Cat,

    I just stumbled upon your blog for the first time today. I am from South Africa, and have always aimed to live a lifestyle like the one you do. I was just interested in asking you when you started to live the healthy, active & balanced lifestyle that you do? I’m 22 and am still finding it difficult to implement things like healthy eating and regular exercise into my daily lifestyle, and basically just have a balance between work, my social life, and physical, mental & spiritual health. Do you have any advice for me? Anything would be greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚ I absolutely LOVE your blog, such an inspiration!!!

      Hey Ashley,
      Thanks so much for your comment all the way from South Africa! ๐Ÿ™‚ I made a big change to my lifestyle about 4-5 years – when I was roughly your age. I don’t think it necessarily matters and I wouldn’t worry too much, as it’s never too late to start. I can definitely say that my general wellbeing and happiness has been SO much better since living a more balanced and healthy life. I totally get that it can be hard to fit fitness and health into a busy schedule, but if you plan everything in advance and get a routine then you’ll find it easier. Also, a workout doesn’t necessarily have to mean a 60min fitness class or 90mins spent in the gym – I do a lot of 30 minute intense workouts either before work in the morning or in the evening. When it comes to meals, I always make enough dinner to have for lunch the next day, that way I know I won’t be buying any rubbish in a rush at lunchtime. Also meditation and mindfulness have helped me a lot. Just 5-10 minutes a day can make such a huge difference.

    Hi Cat,
    I stumbled across your blog just browsing for health and fitness things (wonderful blog btw) and then I read that you’re a jewellery designer and I got super excited because I am too. I’m currently self-taught and selling to a select audience, but I love jewellery and document everything I think about it, any ideas that come to me and my own jewellery on my blog passionfruitsalad.squarespace.com. Your jewellery is beautiful, but I couldn’t find a place to comment on your website hence the comment here. I just wanted to ask did you learn everything you know about jewellery from your parents or did you study it at uni/take courses etc?

      I know that Jessica Olie has an eBook called Let’s Start Yoga. I also have a couple of yoga tutorials on YouTube, as does the amazing Yoga with Adriene. Hopefully that helps ๐Ÿ™‚

    What studios do you teach at and what time ?
    I will be visiting the London area in July and wanted to hit up one of your classes….
    Do you have any other recommendations for yoga studios/ classes in the London area, preferably a flow style ?

      I’m not currently teaching in London, only in Stamford, Lincolnshire. Try a class with Jess from Fat Buddha Yoga, Steffy White, or Emily-Clare Hill.

    Hello Cat,

    I saw that you recently trained with All yoga in Thailand and I wanted to ask how much of the course was focused on a Vinyasa practice along side Ashtanga? I like the idea of delving into many styles but ideally i want to edge more towards teaching a Vinyasa flow style class. Would you recommend this course with that in mind?

    There’s so many courses to choose from so if you know of any Vinyasa based training courses or have any advice I would really appreciate it!

      Hey Carly,
      Even though my course was hosted by All Yoga, it was actually an advanced course taught by The Yoga People, focusing on rocket, yin, tripsichore and yogic arts. Definitely get in touch with David and Vanda from All Yoga Thailand, as they’ll be able to give you lots of info. I did my vinyasa flow course with YogaLondon, so maybe look into doing something with them.

      Hey Madelin,
      I think it’s so important to just have fun with it. Especially in school when there are lots of activities on offer, find something you enjoy and then keep at it. That way you’ll be keeping fit, without even realising it!
      Of course we all need to have a nutritious diet, but don’t restrict yourself too much.
      Enjoyment is key!

    Hi, I’m Debora, I’m from Italy, are two years that I’m practicing yoga and now I would like to get a certificate to can teach it, because I want to let people know it as I discovered it. I sow some of your video on youtube and I loved the way you teach. I was asking you if you know a good teaching certificate and how I can be able to afford one or also if you do or will do a theacing training

    Hi Cat,

    I discovered your blog after trying out some of your classes on sweaty betty and youtube a few months ago and I just wanted to say a h-u-g-e THANK YOU! I’ve only been practicing yoga since then and started because I was told by a physiotherapist to give it a try as I have a back problem – who knew how much I’d fall in love with it! Your instagram, blog, and youtube videos are absolutely fantastic and are helping me to strengthen my back massively, not to mention keeping me inspired to practice and improve for the sheer love of it!

    The way you’ve emphasised that just a little practice when you’re not feeling motivated is a great thing, not a failure, has totally changed my outlook. For the first time ever I don’t feel as though I’m failing at my fitness journey and I’m positive about what I can achieve and the time frame it takes to do it!

    I really can’t thank you enough for how much you’ve helped me!
