We’re officially into the Christmas season, so I’ll now be able to accept and enjoy Christmas songs on the radio! For us health and fitness lovers I think that throughout this season there’s always an underlying question of “How much should I indulge at Christmas and throughout this month?” And yes, to some that may be ‘sad’, but we love our bodies and want to do what makes both our body, but more importantly our mind happy. I can’t and I won’t tell you what to do with your Christmas season, how to enjoy food, how much to indulge, how much… View Post

You may have heard the name yin yoga being thrown around and you may have already asked people “what is yin yoga?”. After my recent teacher training with The Yoga People, Yin is definitely a solid part of my weekly yoga practice, as it’s so nourishing for both the body and mind. I know we can say that about all types of yoga, but for me being a very yang kind of person, yin yoga had to fight for a place in my heart and now it’s there, it’s there to stay. So what is yin yoga? The method of… View Post

In this modern world I think so many of us feel that to be happy and successful we need to be ‘talented’ at something, but I beg to differ. Some small and very easy things require zero talent, but can change a person’s mindset to being happier and more understanding of life and what they want out of it. When I say ‘zero talent’, I’m talking about things that come from within us. Things that we decide about ourselves. Choices we make on how we live our lives. So here are my top five things that require zero talent… KINDNESS… View Post

Whilst in Thailand it’s safe to say that I didn’t run at all. Actually that’s a little fib, I did two sprints in the gym and it was so hot I thought I was going to pass out, so thought it best to stop, relax and have a white chocolate almond Magnum. Because obviously! Now that I’m back I want to get into running again and I know it’s going to be a little tough, so here are my running tips for beginners. I love running because it’s one of the forms of fitness that you tend to see progression in… View Post

It’s been just over two years since I first started using Kayla Itsines’ bikini body guide, which is quite a long time! If you want to follow my Kayla journey from the start then I recommend reading these other blog posts, including an earlier BBG review, an interview with Kayla and a look at the second guide. In this BBG review I’m going to talk more about how I feel about it two years on and how it changed me. When you hear the term “mental health issues”, what do you think of? Do you think of depressed people lying in bed, do you think of yourself and that maybe somewhere deep down it rings true for you, does it sadden you, does it not even bother you? For me the important thing isn’t just to think of mental health as being “depressed”, as it’s so much more than that. You may not agree, but I think every single one of us goes through some kind of mental health issue at some point in our lives, whether we acknowledge it… View Post

I was going to film a YouTube video about bullying, but in a weird way it felt wrong. I’m not too sure why, but putting my fingers to the keys and just seeing what comes out feels more real and feels like I’m actually getting it out of my system. During my school years I was bullied. Not as badly as many people, and definitely very different to what people go through these days with the online world adding a constant reminder of what you’re going through, but still, it was bullying and it broke me, but also made me.… View Post

I recently posted the photo above on my Instagram page and was totally overwhelmed with the comments from my amazing followers. Some were words of love and encouragement, which meant so much to me and others were people sharing their own healthy body image journey with me, having a similar problem by having a little blip in their wellness journey. I just want to make an even bigger point by writing this blog post that it’s OK to take a step back. Every single one of us does it from time to time, whether or not some people chose to… View Post

To be powerful can mean many different things, but I recently got thinking about what power really means to me. Some people may see a high-flying career and lots of money as power and that’s ok. I probably felt like that to an extent when I was younger, but as I’ve grown, so has my mind. To me the word power is a lot about self-esteem and self-love, things I’ve struggled with for so long and in all honesty probably will still have highs and lows with for the rest of my life. Power is about being in control of your… View Post

Sunday just gone will be remembered as the day I ran the worst run of my life. I mean, I’ll probably have forgotten about it in a few months, but right now the memory is sticking. It wasn’t a race, just a standard Sunday trot along the roadside, but my gosh, it was horrible. Rob and I had planned to go out for 5k run, but before the first 1k was complete I was struggling, with a stitch on both sides of my body, tight lungs and heavy legs. I knew from the start this was going to be the worst… View Post
